EVP provides a solution to help emergency service professionals get safely to or from an incident by working with the traffic control system to enhance the responding vehicles ability to move through traffic using the normal traffic signals
What the EVP system does?
Combines state of the art technology with the highest reliability materials and labor to optically detect the approach of vehicles needing enhanced right of way
Requests the “green light” for the highest priority vehicle approaching the intersection up to 800 m away.
Clears traffic ahead of the approaching vehicle and keeps traffic moving steadily and safely
Holds the “green light” until the approaching vehicle is safely through the intersection
Leads to decreased emergency response time and improved driver safety
- Emitter: Xenon strobe light system that mounts on emergency or transit vehicles. Emergency Band (High Priority) and Transit Band (Low Priority) flash rates are industry standard.
- Emitter Coding Module: Optional programmable module which adds an identifying vehicle code when attached to the emitter.
- Optical Detector: An optical device mounted at the traffic intersection positioned to view the approach of vehicles. The optical detector converts the optical signal from the emitter into an electrical signal.
- Optical Signal Processor: Receives and decodes the electrical signals from the optical detector and communicates with the traffic controller which safely cycles the traffic signals to the appropriate preemption routine or “Green” display.
